ABOUT FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, MINNA
The Federal University of Technology, Minna also called FUTMinna, is a Federal Government-owned technology-based higher institution. It's location is in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. Founded in 1983, the university was to bridge the gap in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, producing experts in the development of vaccines and drugs. A team of researchers from the University lent credence to this with the production of typhoid fever vaccines. FUTMinna has proven to be a centre of innovation through the design of number of highly valuable items of socio-economic importance such as the Solar air heater, Motor-car crankshaft, Gearing system for crane hoist drives, Rice de-stoning machine, Maize sheller, Multi-purpose grinder and Irrigation models.
The Federal University of Technology, Minna, has eight faculties namely Agriculture and Agriculture Technology, Engineering and Engineering Technology and Entrepreneurship and Management Technology. Others are Environmental Technology, School of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Information and Communication Technology and Technology Education. The faculties offer more than 60 courses in total. The University also extends study and research with the Centre for Climate Change and Freshwater Resources, Centre for Human Settlements and Urban Development, Centre for Renedial and Extra-mural Studies and Centre for Distance Learning
