Course Overview

Bachelor of Arts  in Philosophy is an undergraduate course of the University of Ibadan. It’s a study of general and fundamental human problems, most of which are connected with existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. Through the four-year degree programme, the students develop critical thinking skills and linguistic ability to defend a reasoned point of view. It teaches them to critique public opinion or general beliefs and come up with their own ideas on what is true and how to live.

Philosophy deals with analysing and interpreting ideas, deducing certain conclusions and communicating the same convincingly, with empirical evidence to support it. Scholars in this field find roles in teaching, research, marketing and communications, obviously because of their ability to prove their subjects of discussion beyond any reasonable doubt.

By completing the degree programme, you will be able to apply your critical and analytical skills in any given field. The degree course also culminates in the award of Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.
