Course Overview

Geology is an undergraduate course of Kano State University of Technology, which  studies basic landforms and geological processes. It covers the geological history of the earth and its life forms, with some emphasis on the study of rock strata, fossil groups, and geological time. Other included topics are minerals, volcanoes, fluvial processes, geological history, plate tectonics, glaciers, and coastal dynamics. Undergraduates will learn to describe basic geological processes that shape the earth. The course provides insights into geographical forces that cause environmental changes influencing man's activities. It also looks into natural hazards and disasters caused by these forces.
By taking the programme, you will be trained to become broad based geologists through coursework, fieldwork, and industrial training, for the energy and minerals industries, environmental and engineering firms, and government planning. With your understanding of evolution of heart structures, you will be able to provide informed opinions on such issues as physical planning, natural conversation, climate change and urban development. You will be able to apply knowledge of geology in making decisions and implementing physical projects.
