The proprietors of the university is the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), a Christian, Evangelical, Pentecostal and inter-denominational missionary organization, which is a sub-set of the overall vision received in August 1977 by Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, the founder and General Overseer of MFM Ministries worldwide. The vision received by Dr. D. K. Olukoya culminated in the official commissioning of the mission in July 1989 in the home of the founder. The commissioning started with 24 people. From the initial 24 foundation members, the church today has millions of worshippers with over 250,000 in a single service at the headquarters church alone and not less than 30,000 on the average in most of the branches of the church all over the world. The MFM successfully runs missionary activities in well over 40 nations of the world cutting across Africa, Europe, USA, Canada and Asia. As a Christian Missionary Organization, the MFM is a full gospel ministry devoted to the revival of apostolic signs, Holy Ghost Fire works and the unlimited demonstration of the power of God, to deliver to the uttermost. Absolute holiness within and without is taught openly, as the greatest insecticide and as a condition for heaven. The mission of Mountain Top University is the provision of excellent facilities for the training of men and women in various academic, professional and vocational disciplines in an atmosphere that will enhance the simultaneous development of their spiritual, mental and physical faculties, in order to produce morally upright and academically sound graduates with specialized skills and value systems, who will be independent, invariably self-employable and who will be able to impact positively on the development (be it in leadership, academic, public and the industrial sectors) of their communities, the Nigerian society and the global community at large.
With the creation of Kano State in 1967 from the then Northern Nigerian Region, and 5 years after the inception of the required Government administrative machinery in 1968, under the leadership of the first State Military Governor, late Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Audu Bako, the pioneer process to establish a state – owned University in Kano began in 1973.The major process of establishing Kano University of Technology Wudil (KUT) started in 1988 when Kano State Government set up a Task Force Committee under the Chairmanship of Professor Ibrahim H. Umar, the erstwhile Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano. The Task force Committee submitted Report in February, 1989, recommending the establishment of the University at Bagauda Lake Hotel, about 50 Kilometers south of Kano. Subsequent to the report, the Kano State Government set up a Technical Committee to study, in detail, the Report of the Task Force Committee. The Technical Committee was inaugurated in July, 1989 and was chaired by Alhaji Abdulkarim Hassan, the then Director, Schools Management in the Kano State Ministry of Education, the present Secretary to the State Government. The Mission of Kano University of Technology, Wudil is to provide the highest possible quality academic and professional training aimed at producing graduates that can function in, and creatively adapt to, the challenges of a fast-changing society in an increasingly-complex and gender-conscious world.
The Proprietor of the Christopher University, Translucent Management Services, have for many years observed that a yawning gap exists between industry and the academia and have, at various times, successfully established very strong and fruitful linkages between industry and academia in the area of capacity building and management training. These experiences constitute a very strong motivation for the establishment of a specialized university with focus on training in the Management sciences in close proximity to many corporate organizations in the South-Western axis in Nigeria. This shall facilitate close collaboration and consultation between academia and industry in the development and establishment of high level management training programs relevant to the immediate and future manpower needs of industry and the nation at large.
In venturing into the great task of establishing a private university, the Proprietor having scanned the educational terrain in Nigeria and observed the gap between the desired quality of training, especially in the management sciences, and the quality of university graduates being produced in Nigeria who are expected to drive the innovations and face the challenges of business and management in the contemporary global knowledge economy, feel compelled to intervene with a view to establishing a first class institution that will train students who upon graduation, shall be imbued with the requisite skills, knowledge and competencies to fit into industry in any part of the global knowledge society and be key players in their various fields of specialization.
The gap between the aspirations of many Nigerians for quality university education and the few spaces available for them to realize their ambitions and fulfill their aspirations provides further impetus for the establishment of the Christopher University as contribution to national effort aimed at enhancing access to quality university education in Nigeria located in Ogun State and very close to Lagos, which is a melting point for all Nigerians and with the highest population and the highest population density, the niche exists for higher institutions of learning to cater for the ever increasing demand.
Responsibility for ensuring that the objectives of the Proprietor of the Christopher University are attained in the most efficient manner is vested in the Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC). Responsibility for the preparation and for ensuring faithful implementation of the university law, Academic Brief and the Master Plan, to ensure the realization of the objectives and mission of the Christopher University is also vested in the Committee before its take-off.
The vision of the Christopher University is to become a national powerhouse in management education, preparing managers, scholars and entrepreneurs.
The mission of the Christopher University is to create a specialized institution committed to the pursuit of academic innovation, skill-based training and a tradition of excellence in teaching and research with private sector participation.
Bingham University, Karu was established by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) following its formal licensing by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 5th January, 2005. As the name implies, the University was named after one of the trio of pioneer Sudan Interior Missionaries, Roland Victor Bingham whose vision along with those of other founding fathers desired to produce committed Christians in our institutions, including the University through which Christ-centred leaders would emerge. The founding fathers intend to meet the soaring need for not only quality secular tertiary education but education that recognises and integrates moral and spiritual values in the face of degenerating social decadence in Nigerian University campuses.
Vision, Mission, Core values and Goal:
The vision of Bingham University, Karu is to transform Nigeria into knowledge and skills – driven society (Prov. 29:18).
Our mission for accomplishing the vision is to produce men and women who will catalyze the revolution in self-reliance at all levels of a Godly society (1 Cor. 2:12-12).
The core values for Bingham University, Karu are Christ-centeredness, people-orientation, excellence, purpose -driven life and adaptability to a changing world (Rom. 12:2-3).
Bingham University’s goal is to produce total men and women equipped to affect their generation positively for Jesus Christ, serving humanity in ways that are glorifying to God and dignifying to humanity (Prov. 29:18). Our motto is, ‘mission for service’.
